Undertale is a PC role playing game about a kid’s adventures on the Underworld, the land of monsters. It is made by indie developer tobyfox -> <- with artwork done by Temmie Chang () and mainly sold through Steam.
The main character () is a speechless psychopath that derives determination from anything, a conveniently placed lamp, a cheese waiting to be eaten by a mouse, natural environments, literally everything in the game’s world fill this youngster with determination. Also, genderless (so I’m calling the kid an “it” or”they”). Your choices can shape them into a happy-go-lucky albeit masochistic person that befriends through pain every entity it encounters or a heartless, sadistic person that revels in their LOVE for monsterkind. Their crazy brain is just right for this game tho, where almost every choice you make counts and the game is supposed to be played in a casual manner – at first. has great replay value as you get to unlock way many more parts of the back and front story while you try a different approach and choices each play-through. The game hints you clearly at that, so don’t worry about it.
You should also know that Toby Fox is a big time troller and had a lot of fun coding this game: he’s made it so that the game often will break the 4th wall and act as if it knows what you are doing or thinking as a player not as the protagonist.
I will be now posting pics from my 2nd play-through, after I finished the game and had backtracked to the beginning, while I was travelling from the beginning towards the ending area. I apologize for the sheer silliness of the captions, I was really tired when I did the whole double backtrack thing. There will be minimal spoilers but you get a feel of the game, so view on your own discretion 😉
All these hardly make any sense, you’ll understand what they mean when you play the game 😉
If you feel like supporting an indie developer with a big , there’s the game’s merc store (by fangamer.com).
